When our youngest son left for college my husband and I wanted to find a hobby we could do together. We discovered the world of bbq judging and stopped there! After getting certified and judging 3 different society’s, STLBBQ, KCBS, and trained for MBN, it was like we were dating again! This all occured in 5 months! We needed a few categories to get our MBN certifications and whole hog was 1 of them. I was excited to see Murphysboro having a dual sanctioned contest. We were aiming to judge at Murphysboro to complete our MBN or add to our KCBS judge book. I thought my husband applied for us and visa-versa. Yep, thats right, you guessed it,neither of us did. So, we faxed applications and are now on a waiting list. I went ahead and booked us a room in Marian b/c we thought we’d be celebrating our 6 months of, “re-dating” at Praise the Lard. We will go to Murphysboro to support the town and hopefully Sam or Becky will call and say they need us to judge! or something. If not, we can visit SIUC where our youngest daughter attended “Out of state college” yikes, now you understand why we are excited to start “dating” again. Please call us Sam or Becky!
